At a recent drum conference Blair showed his handmade drum to Dr. Babatunde Olatunji
One of the world's greatest drum masters, Babatunde Olatunji was among the very first ambassadors of African music. He has been presenting his musical and spiritual message to the West since the early '50s, paving the way for the myriad of African musicians that have followed. Born and raised in Nigeria, Olatunji was educated at Morehouse College in Atlanta and the New York University Graduate School.
Dr. Olatunji has written many musical compositions, including the scores for the Broadway and Hollywood productions of "Raisin in the Sun". He also assisted fellow Morehouse alum Bill Lee with the music for "She's Gotta Have It", the hit film produced by and starring Bill's son Spike Lee. Recently Mr. Olatunji has led his Drums of Passion performance group of drummers, singers and dancers in appearances around the world.
